On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman is joined by a member of the Canadian hard rock band, Triumph. The guest talks about their performance at the US Festival in 1983, which Pipeman attended. The festival was a significant event, which featured some of the top bands of the time, including Van Halen, Scorps, Triumph, Ozzy, and Judas Priest, among others. Triumph's performance was one of Pipeman's favorites of the day, and the band member jokes about how David Lee Roth forgot the words during his set. The guest recalls the festival's massive turnout of over 300,000 people. They reminisce about the chaotic and exciting stampede towards the stage when the gates opened, with everyone running full speed to get as close as possible. The interviewee reflects on the romance between Steve Wask, the man behind the festival, and Triumph, who had flown to gigs to see the band before inviting them to play at the festival. The festival came after a long period since their last show in the LA area, where they co-headlined the Rose Bowl with Journey, playing to a crowd of 110,000 people. Pipeman asks the guest if they ever thought they would be putting out a double live LP of their performance at the US Festival forty years later. The guest admits they could not have imagined it, but they find it fascinating. The whole experience of the festival was unforgettable, and it is something they will always remember. The guest reflects on how the festival was an exceptional event and how it brings back memories every time they think about it If you want to find some of their music and their videos you can find it over on their YouTube Channel which you can find by searching Triumph and it should come up.
