PipemanRadio interviews Field Cate of Fencer about their new album. Field was a child actor, and is best known for his role of Young Ned in Pushing Daisies. He was also the voice of Buddha in the Air Bud films. Field takes mental health advocacy seriously, as he is a Positive Presence Coach. Pipeman talks to him about mental health and coaching. They talk about the importance of mental health awareness, therapy, and how it all intertwines in Fencer’s music and the writing process. Pipeman talks about how it's great that not only is Field a coach, but literally has real credentials to help people through Positive Presence coaching and his music.
Discussing the new music, they talk about how the pandemic helped in the making of music. Field has synesthesia, in which he can see music in colors, and actively uses that when writing. Field talks about how he sees music in color and explains why their music is blue and how they accepted blue as the band’s theme color.
They also briefly talk about their shared interest in video games and what their favorite video games and how gaming has changed over the years.
The interview is based on Fencer’s new music and new album.
Fencer, the Los Angeles-based rock trio, have just released their latest single
“Joseph Courtney” alongside the announcement of their self-titled debut album, set to be released on February 3rd, 2023.
You can listen to “Joseph Courtney” on all streaming platforms here. You can also watch the band perform “Joseph Courtney” LIVE at Jam In The Van here. You may recognize
Field Cate (vocals) as Young Ned from the well-loved series
Pushing Daisies, or even as the voice of Buddha from the infamous
Air Bud films. Since then, he’s moved away from his child acting career and focused entirely on music. Over the years,
Field’s struggles with mental health became prominent in his songwriting, and even led him to a position as a Positive-Presence Mentor-Coach.
Following the release of
“Sanitarium,” the newest addition to the
Fencer discography,
“Joseph Courtney,” showcases the band’s upcoming era at its highest.
Field’s synesthesia (seeing music in color),
Scott’s vigorous bass-lines, and
Cameron’s expertise in self-producing flow together to create an eccentric style that is certain to become rock’s newest novelty. After racking up an impressive
1.5 million listens across all streaming platforms, the band is excited to return with more of their undeniably, dynamic sound.
